Borobudur, hidden buddhas

This is the view from the top of Borobudur, a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist Temple in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The monument looks like a giant inverted bell from a distance, but actually consists of six square platforms, ringed by seated buddhas and stupas.

Inside each of these conical shapes, just faintly visible if you peek into the cracks, is a meditating buddha.
