Toes

IMG_0428.

They support us, wiggle us
up, and down they don’t annoy.
But who remembers them
in a bar or at the bank?
No toes make a deposit
or cover your drink,
no, toes are just there,
not complaining, not
even saying ‘paint me,’
though mine got sick –
it took me years to
cure them. I feed
mine the finest tofu
and comb them just
before I fall asleep.
